Fai Au is the founder and principal of O Studio Architects. He received his Master in Design Studies from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Bachelor of Architecture from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Master of Art in Philosophy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a registered architect in Hong Kong and a member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects. He is the winner of 2020 Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard, the winner of Young Architect Prize, 2014 Chivas 18 Architecture and Design Awards, the winner of 2012 Perspective 40 under 40 Award, the champion of 2007 Hong Kong Young Architects Award, and the nominee of Young Architect Prize, 2010 China Architecture Media Award.

Fai Au previously practiced at Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam. In 2011 Fai Au found O Studio Architects in Hong Kong and led his design team to deliver a number of award-winning projects: Church of Seed received HKIA Medal of the Year in 2011 and O Studio Architects is the youngest practice winning this highest honour so far; Luofu Mountain Museum won Merit Prize for 2012 HKIA Annual Award and 2015 Design for Asia Awards; the joint team of Foster + Partners and O Studio Architects was chosen as the final five to design WKCD Xiqu Center in 2012.

Since the beginning of his career, he has maintained a balance between professional practice and academic involvements. He is currently the Associate Professor of Practice in the University of Hong Kong and he previously taught in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Fai Au is the co-curator of 2017 HKSZ Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong). His works have been featured in various exhibitions including 2018 Venice Biennale, 2018 Play to Change Exhibition, 2017 HKSZ Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture, 2017 PMQ 10×100 Exhibition, 2016 “REVEAL 2: +-x÷” Exhibition, 2015 “Past Present Future – Tracking Hong Kong” Exhibition and 2013 Agoras Green Architecture Exhibition.
